I'm super excited to share my first post with A Flair For Buttons! I love making a December Daily album to remember the little things that happen amongst the Christmas chaos. It's all those little moments that make up what's really important in our lives.
My friend made 80 ten page mini albums for a kid's camp this summer, so she had 800 pieces of kraft scrap left over. She decided to make a bunch of tags to have on hand and sent me a big pile. I thought the larger style tag would make a cute DD and not take a ton of time. I really love how it turned out and I'm going to have to make more of these tag albums in the future.
I used the Snow And Cocoa collection from Crate Paper. I just love these papers. They are cute and have a good mix of colors and patterns. For my cover, I used some of the chipboard elements and added the So Fun flair from Phrases 2
Thanks for tuning in. How do you like to remember the season?

Monday Quick Cards
Welcome to another edition of Monday Quick Cards. Today's card employee the use of stamps with dies. No coloring, just fun paper and intricate dies. It took me 17:20 to make this card that's perfect for a wedding or other fancy celebration.
For this card I used Cake Soiree, by Stampin' Up. It comes by itself or in a bundle with coordinating dies. I used the dies for the cake stand and bow, as stand alone elements. I then stamped the cake on Stampin' Up white card stock, die cut with the coordinating die and mounted on some pretty patterned paper, adding some filament behind the cake. I finished it off by adding some pearls and mounting on black card stock. I think the longest steps where weeding that intricate cake stand, but it's so pretty! I love that this is another card where I didn't do any coloring in, yet isn't missing color. I let the paper shine instead. The grey/yellow/white is super elegant too.
Elegant doesn't necessarily mean fussy and time consuming. Remember this next time you need a quick card for an elegant event. See you next week!

Monday Quick Cards
Hello and happy Monday! Today I have a super quick card for you; 10:04. It's an easy technique with minimal coloring, but maximum impact.
I used Best Of The Best, by Unity Stamp Co. This stamp has so much going for it, that it doesn't need a lot of coloring and fuss. I love the simple elegance that coloring just a bit of the image gives. More isn't always better, sometimes it's just more. It is great to remember this when you need a quick card too. A few pops of color and a bit of bling is all that is needed. It allows the eye to take in the beautiful design of the stamp and simply rest. In our day of over the top visual effects, sometimes it's just nice to rest in simple beauty.
Next time you need a quick card, or just as something different, try this simple, yet impactful technique.

Monday Quick Cards
Happy Monday and welcome to another addition of Monday Quick Cards!
Today I'm tickled pink to share this card with you, using Unity Stamp Co's Let's Flamingle. It's such a cute set and takes no time at all to color in. I began with a base using Unity's Hearts Of Old. I love this background stamp. Hearts, yet distressed. I'm a big fan of distress. I stamped the background stamp with Picked Raspberry distress ink, misted with some water, and stamped onto my watercolor paper. I stamped the flamingo out on a separate piece, colored, then cut out the bird and the hearts, popping them up on the background and added washi tape. I stamped and cut out the sentiment, popping that up as well. I matted onto black, then bright pink. I love how fun and cheery it turned out and hope to make more soon.
See how fast you can make a similar card, it took me 13:26.

Monday Quick Cards
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was crazy busy, as have the last several, but today is Monday and I have a new quick card to share with you that took me 16:25.
This week's card focuses on the sentiments and I mean like all of them. This new sentiment set, from Scrapbook.com is so fun. I just love the massive amounts of cute, nice, and down right funny sayings that are contained in it. How can you pick just one? So....I used most of them, creating a background, then highlighting the largest greeting on a banner.
First, I laid out sentiments, spacing them so that the various lines were offset and not like the one above, on my stamp platform. Inked it up and stamped on to my background paper, then cut with a stitched die. I stamped out the Happy Birthday on to another piece of paper and cut into a banner. Some distress ink on the edges helped it pop out from the sentiment background. I just added one puffy treat and a few enamel drops, before matting on to a bright piece of paper, to match the distressed edges. Fun, simple, would make a great mass produced set, since you have all those sentiments lined up on the platform.

Monday Quick Cards
Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day! Taking a rest from out labors is the perfect time to showcase quick cards that don't require a lot of labor; 11:50 to be exact.
It's amazing what just a swipe of color on a stencil and some cute die cut frames can do for a card. I used Unity Stamp Co's Bundle Congrats. It's super cute and doesn't need a lot of fussing with. I simply painted the cloud and hearts, die cut into a fun shape, and added to my simple background. I added some Nuvo Drops to the hearts and to two of the corners. Matting onto a solid piece of cardstock was all that was left.

Monday Quick Cards
Happy Monday, where we're bringing back the excitement for Mondays. Or at least trying to make them less painful.
Today's quick card was on the high end of my 20 minutes or less, but I did fussy cut those fish, at 19:03. This card was for the husband's birthday and quite fitting as he's getting up there in years. I, on the other hand, am still in my twenties.
The smooshing is dead easy and makes such a statement. I used the brand new Tumbled Glass for my base color. I tried to fill most of my paper with this color, drying before adding new colors.
I didn't want to completely overpower the lighter color, so I used less ink the darker I got.
After popping up my fish, on my watery base and adding a sentiment, I added bubbles with Nuvo Drops and added distress ink around the edges. I like the definition this step adds.
The ink smooshing makes for a wow background in no time and a technique I pull out often. I even had time to do that fussy cutting!

I used Sea Life, a Tim Holtz stamp set and created a fun oxide smooshed, watery background. It's one of my favorite techniques. I used the midnight Versafine Clair ink instead of black, to go with the under the sea theme.
