Magical Memories

Welcome to a new month and a new CSI challenge! We are celebrating back to school and Fall, but who can see these colors and not think about Disney? I couldn't. I decided to scrap some of my favorite photos with our grandson at our favorite ride, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

I used some flair from A Flair For Buttons; they are just the perfect little addition to any layout.

Maps

Welcome to CSI's mid month case release! This case is all about take a trip or planning a trip. I couldn't resist capturing this photo of my husband and son mapping out a bike trail excursion. My grandson had to pop in and take part of the planning. It was just adorable.

I used map paper, people elements, and stamps, from the evidence list and my journaling is about this planning of the trip. Aren't they just adorable?

I used flair from A Flair For Buttons and stamps from Unity Stamp Co.

Newport Bridge

Happy June! It's time for a new CSI challenge. I loved the colors of this case. It reminds me of the coast, so I grabbed these photos of the bridge over the Newport Bay. It's such a cool looking bridge. I took the photo when I was out testing my new camera.

I decided to use a dark background. I don't use that very often and I like how everything just pops off the dark page. I also forget to use the negative pieces when I die cut, so I added a negative cloud too.  A couple of stacked banners, sequins, and flair, from A Flair For Buttons finished off the piece.

Super Sleeper

It's time for our mid month reveal at CSI. I just loved the color palette for this case. And bonus, the testimony prompt was quicky pet traits! Sydney's quirky trait is in how she sleeps. She loves to make a hammock between my legs and stretch out as far as she can go. I call this her Superman pose.

I started with a plain white base and added some torn paper and washi tape. Since the floral is so packed with cuteness, I needed minimal embellishments. I used clouds from three Unity Stamp Co kits, a couple of pieces of flair from A Flair For Buttons, and a few wood bits.

Come help us solve this case and upload your layout to the CSI Facebook page for you chance to win a prize from one of our amazing sponsors!

You Are Here

It's a new month and a new CSI challenge is up! I just loved this one; with the bright colors and vacation memories. We recently took a trip to Disneyland. We left the grey, cool skies of Oregon and emerged into the bright sun of LA. I love this photo of my husband, with his cool sunglasses.

I used this awesome map and sun from Look Up And Get Lost, found at Unity Stamp Co. I love how you can use that map to show your travels around the country and that sun....oh, I love that sun.

I used The Road Trip cut file from The Cut Shoppe and a Here flair from A Flair For Buttons

For my evidence I used: map, travel elements, transportation elements, trees, stamping, and a white background

My testimony is on our recent trip.

Wild

It's a new challenge at CSI! If you know me at all, you know that I adore the coast, so when beach is one of the prompts, you know I'll be all over that!

I used several of the evidence prompts: stripes, nautical items, whale and octopus and seagull, watercolor, and shells.

I journaled on the coast.

Wanna Have Girl Time

It's a new month of challenges at CSI and this one is a super fun one. I love the bright colors and the prompt to remember the good times of summer. In fact, I went all old school on this case, using all the prompts.

I used the Donna Downey poppy stamps from Unity Stamp Co as my background, painting them with Gansai Tambi watercolors. I live the vividness of these paints and they went well with the bright theme.  I finished off the bright pops by splattering Twisted Citron on the background and adding bright enamel dots and washi. The poppies have clear beads in the centers to give some added texture.

Evidence used: solid white background, mixed media, flowers, and beads

Testimony is remembering a summer activity.

How will you solve this case?

Fine Ol Chap

It's time for another CSI challenge! We have a little Alice in Wonderland to inspire you this time. Of course I went for the Mad Hatter and scrapped these photos of my grandson in his dapper new duds. How cute does he look in that top hat???

I used an oldie but goodie, Swaggar. Also included are some great corners by Unity Stamp Co and a fun bit of flair from A Flair For Buttons

I did use the evidence list at the bottom of the page and included:
dots, stripes, crown (well, yeah...), hearts, clocks, and a tag.

My testimony is short, but sweet, "This dapper lil dude in his new dapper duds."

Be sure to stop by and play along with us, here

A Star Is Born

Welcome to a new year of CSI challenges. This year we're mixing it up a bit. You can either solve the case the old school way, with all the color, evidence, and testimony prompts....or....be inspired by the inspiration photo. I did a bit of both. The colors this month were just perfect to scrap this photo of my first grandbaby. I also included several of the evidence prompts, but let my journaling just be about this lil dude.

For evidence I used:
distressed background, stars, banners, string, triangles, and dashed lines.

I thought the stars prompt fit perfectly, not only with the baby, but with this super fun kit by Unity Stamp Co, Happy Holidays. I both stamped them out onto watercolor paper, but onto shrink plastic and made fun little embellishments from them. I painted the full sized stars with Kuratake Gansai Tambi paints (I love the brilliance of these paints), and I colored the shrink plastic stars with Prismacolor pencils. The distressing was used by stamping, in multiple generations with some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. This "Hello" flair, from A Flair For Buttons was the perfect extra addition. A simple border finished off the piece.

Wanna '17

Every July a group of scrapping friends gets together to hang out for a long weekend to get our scrap on and hit Craft Warehouse. There is lots of laughter, creating, and shenanigans.

To make this CSI case layout, I used a Gelli print, made with my Gelli plate as the background, layering lots of paint with my brayer and through a stencil. Then I added a few pieces of patterned paper to act as an anchor for my photo group. I hung a banner of stars, using Unity's Happy Holidays, strung with a bit of twine. I stamped out, then fussy cut some flowers, using Unity's No Words Bloom. I added small gems to the center to give some added texture. I finished it off by sprinkling some wooden hearts and enamel dots.

Evidence used: polka dots, something hanging, enamel dots, hearts, sprinkle something.

Testimony is documenting the celebration of friends.
