Come And Play

I was really inspired by the colors for this CSI case. They reminded of the bag of mice sent when we got a new cat. I also loved this new cut file by The Cut Shoppe and thought it had such a playful look. These fun flair from A Flair For Buttons also caught my eye and fit with the playfulness. She just LOVES that yellow mouse.

Ironman

I can't believe April is nearly over! This last April case at CSI was a lot of fun. I decided to go with the National Humor Month prompt and this guy brings so much humor into my life!

I was spending the day crafting with my daughters and step mom. Hubby and I had a brief conversation and he signed off by saying he would get back to the pile of housework he was doing. He told me that he was doing the ironing. I said, "Yeah...right..." I don't think the guy has ironed more that once in his life. Soon after, I received a bunch of photos of him "ironing". T-shirt, satin dress, hat, soccer shoes. Seriously, my life is never boring....

I started off by painting the case colors onto a blank piece of watercolor paper in random streaks. Then stamped some black circles on top. I cut some cut files out, Polaroid frame, file tab (used the inside mustaches elsewhere on the page), and a couple of snarky sayings tags from The Cut Shoppe. The mustache tab and frame are backed with vellum. I stamped the arrows on the tags to add interest and added the mustaches because they are just fun. Throw on a few gears, and done!

I Choose You

Week 7 at Journal 52 brought us the prompt Valentines. Valentines Day isn't a huge deal here. We are some of those that don't need an advertisment national holiday to express what we mean to each other, but it was still fun to think about and make a journal page on love and relationships. I found this quote on Pinterest and just loved it. It so says how I feel about my husband. 28 years later, I would still choose him.

For my background, I cut out a stencil from the Addicted to Love cut from The Cut Shoppe. I knew when I first saw it that it would make a great stencil. I then added gel medium through the stencil, waited for it to dry, sprayed red spray ink on one end and using my spray bottle, made an ombre effect.  Then I went about adding layers of shadow and texture. I used a script stamp over the topand inked the edges of the page and a lot of the heart circles with black distress ink. I cut out the heart from the Sweet Hearts file out of watercolor paper and added distress inks in purple, lilac, and black, then added script stamping on top. I backed the word cutouts with black paper and filled with Stickles. I used the word positives as an additional point of interest up at the top. I colored them with ink and outlined with a fine black pen. Layer a few pieces of lace under the heart, add some wood embellishments, and sprinkle with some cranberry ink, and you have the finished piece.

Who Girl

I'm taking part in a weekly art journal challenge. It's super fun and a great community. This week's, week 6, prompt is TV. I don't watch a whole lot of TV, mostly sports, but I do love to watch BBC and my favourite show is Doctor Who. My friend Ashley Horton has a cut file shop for die cut machines and when I saw this file, I knew I had to get it! It went perfectly with this week's prompt. I cut out the TARDIS and the saying and put them on a Gelli print I had that I felt represented the show well.
