Coffee Filter Collaboration

Now and again, I join a group of friends to do a collaboration. Sometimes we do a theme. Other times we have a pile of common supplies. This go around, we decided to use coffee filters, or a tea bag. The sky was the limit, no holds barred. I decided to make a canvas to hang in my kitchen because coffee is life.

I took my coffee stained filter, and whilst I sipped the delicious brew that passed through it, I added even more color with my Distress Inks. I set that aside and grunged up my canvas with more Distress Ink and some stamps. Setting that to one side, I stamped this awesome coffee treat stamp Stay Strong, by Unity Stamp Co. I cut the word from coffee related digi paper by Gracielle Designs. I seriously love this paper pack. I found this cute lil wood veneer to go cup and dark "gems" and finally added a piece of flair from A Flair For Buttons, Hello Coffee. It pretty much sums up have I feel about coffee.

She Declined

Hello, Laura here with you today with a kitty layout for A Flair For Buttons. My cat recently had to have an oral procedure done, under anesthesia. When I went to pick her up, several people told me how funny she had been, under the influence of the drugs. they sent a surgery tech to collect her and suddenly we hear what sounds like 6 cats in an epic brawl. A few minutes later, the tech emerged with my cat and said, "I tried to bandage her IV site. She declined." Yeah, I think we all got that message.


The Got Cat  and Cute Kittyflair set were perfect for my story. The lil kitty is darling and I can just hear the "meow meow meow" as cat cursing at the indignities she was suffering.

Sir Fox - A Flair For Buttons Layout

Happy Tuesday! Today I'm sharing a layout from my recent trip to Yellowstone, using flair from A Flair For Buttons. If you haven't been there in the winter, you should make it a goal to visit this land of fire and ice. Not only does the steam billow more, but the animals come closer to the rivers that run through the park because they are some of the few that aren't frozen over. Every day we saw coyote, fox, eagles, bison, and all the water fowl.

I am bringing you this adorable fox that we saw. He was close and walked right towards us. It was a pretty special moment for our entire group.
I used the fox and heart from the Woodland Creatures flair pack. The fox even has a scarf on!

Unity Stamp Co January Challenge

January Challenge

Welcome to January and 2019! Today we take a break from quick cards and visit a more in-depth technique; shaker cards. And so, I will show you how I make these fun, interactive cards.

The Project

The Steps

First, gather your supplies.



I used the Everblooming kit. This stamp makes a great shaker card and what better thing to fill it with, but seeds? It's the dead of Winter, so I couldn't find any flower seeds, but I did find some grass seed and was pleasantly surprised to see that they were partly colored!



Begin by stamping the image. Clair ink is my favorite ink, so crisp and vivid.



Next color or paint the image, if desired.



I chose an image and cut the center out, but you can use a frame die or create your own frame using differing sized dies. Using my X-acto knife, I cut out the center of my seed packet, then used scissors to fine tune my cut.



Apply acetate with some good adhesive. If you don't have acetate, you can use the clear packaging from your supplies, a baggie, or vellum.



After that, create an area for your elements to be able to shake and move. I do this using foam tape.
Quick hint: I get mine from the hardware store. It's cheaper than the craft store!
Be sure to cover the entire area in foam tape, leaving no gaps. However, you can leave them, I suppose, if you really want to deliver a glitter bomb to the recipient. *wink*



Fill the space with whatever you want to shake inside your shaker card. I chose seeds and some glass glitter, for sparkle. Carefully remove the tape backing so your glitter and such doesn't try to escape. Be sure to have a back piece to at the ready to cover the contents.



Adhere to card face and add embellishments and sentiment.

The Challenge

The first post of the month will present a challenge that will be open for the whole month. This will allows you to take some time and try out some new techniques. And so this month I challenge you to make a shaker card or other interactive card or project. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

2018 December Daily - A Flair For Buttons

I'm super excited to share my first post with A Flair For Buttons! I love making a December Daily album to remember the little things that happen amongst the Christmas chaos. It's all those little moments that make up what's really important in our lives.


My friend made 80 ten page mini albums for a kid's camp this summer, so she had 800 pieces of kraft scrap left over. She decided to make a bunch of tags to have on hand and sent me a big pile. I thought the larger style tag would make a cute DD and not take a ton of time. I really love how it turned out and I'm going to have to make more of these tag albums in the future.
I used the Snow And Cocoa collection from Crate Paper. I just love these papers. They are cute and have a good mix of colors and patterns. For my cover, I used some of the chipboard elements and added the So Fun flair from Phrases 2

Monday Quick Cards

Welcome to another edition of Monday Quick Cards. Today's card employee the use of stamps with dies. No coloring, just fun paper and intricate dies. It took me 17:20 to make this card that's perfect for a wedding or other fancy celebration.

For this card I used Cake Soiree, by Stampin' Up. It comes by itself or in a bundle with coordinating dies. I used the dies for the cake stand and bow, as stand alone elements. I then stamped the cake on Stampin' Up white card stock, die cut with the coordinating die and mounted on some pretty patterned paper, adding some filament behind the cake. I finished it off by adding some pearls and mounting on black card stock. I think the longest steps where weeding that intricate cake stand, but it's so pretty! I love that this is another card where I didn't do any coloring in, yet isn't missing color. I let the paper shine instead. The grey/yellow/white is super elegant too.

Elegant doesn't necessarily mean fussy and time consuming. Remember this next time you need a quick card for an elegant event. See you next week!

Monday Quick Cards

Hello and happy Monday! Today I have a super quick card for you; 10:04. It's an easy technique with minimal coloring, but maximum impact.

I used Best Of The Best, by Unity Stamp Co. This stamp has so much going for it, that it doesn't need a lot of coloring and fuss. I love the simple elegance that coloring just a bit of the image gives. More isn't always better, sometimes it's just more. It is great to remember this when you need a quick card too. A few pops of color and a bit of bling is all that is needed. It allows the eye to take in the beautiful design of the stamp and simply rest. In our day of over the top visual effects, sometimes it's just nice to rest in simple beauty.

Next time you need a quick card, or just as something different, try this simple, yet impactful technique.
